Hanu Studios is expanding its visual effects department and launching immediate recruitment for Roto & Prep Artists. Open to freshers as well as junior artists with up to one year of professional experience, this position is ideal for meticulous creators looking to build a strong career in shot finaling and plate preparation. Selected artists will work on exciting, live-action production shots alongside experienced team leads, gaining hands-on production experience. What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
The Roto & Prep Artist will execute fundamental plate preparation and alpha matte tasks across various production shots:
- Rotoscopy & Mattes: Generate clean, precise rotoscopy alpha mattes for characters, props, and background elements across production sequences.
- Paint & Prep Execution: Perform wire/rig removals, clean plate generations, marker cleanups, and element reconstructions on complex live-action plates.
- Production Integration: Deliver accurate, high-quality work within production schedules while collaborating with team members and leads to address feedback.
Required Software Knowledge & Skills
Applicants should meet the following technical and operational criteria:
- Core Software Knowledge: Practical knowledge of industry-standard prep and roto tools such as Nuke, Silhouette, or Mocha is considered a major plus.
- Experience Level: Freshers or up to 1 year of professional VFX industry experience with a good understanding of rotoscopy and prep workflows.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional attention to detail, clean execution habits, good communication skills, and a strong desire to learn in a fast-paced environment.
