SDL Studio is expanding its visual effects department and launching immediate recruitment for a Compositing Artist (Nuke). Structured as a project-based freelance opportunity, this remote role is open to Junior+, Mid-level, and Senior artists to work on feature films and TV series. If you are a skilled Nuke compositor who excels at seamlessly integrating 3D elements, live-action plates, and clean passes into artistically polished final frames, this opening offers an ideal flexible platform.
Selected artists will take ownership of shots from initial script setup through to final delivery, ensuring realistic depth, lighting behavior, and seamless integration. The studio highly values independent problem-solving—including the ability to generate or composite small AI assets into background layers—while maintaining close communication with the core production team.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
The Compositing Artist will manage shot finaling and layer integration across key sequence modules:
- 3D & Live-Action Compositing: Composite multi-layer passes by integrating 3D graphics, visual effects, and live-action footage into realistic, artistically polished final images.
- Technical Shot Finishing: Execute precise keying, rotoscoping, 2D/3D tracking, and complex shot cleanup to align graphics perfectly with plate motion.
- Asset Generation & Integration: Leverage AI generation tools where appropriate to independently create or adjust background elements and seamlessly blend them into active shots.
Required Software Knowledge & Skills
Candidates applying for this project-based remote role must meet the following technical and language criteria:
- Core Toolset: Advanced proficiency in Foundry Nuke with the ability to build and finish complex node setups independently.
- Experience & Portfolio: At least 1 year of active commercial production experience supported by a showreel demonstrating commercial film/TV work.
- Language & Schedule: Professional fluency in Ukrainian, Russian, or Belarusian for team communication, with preferred availability during UTC+3, UTC+2, or UTC+1 working hours.
