Darrall Macqueen is seeking a versatile Senior Toon Boom Rigger & Asset Artist to lead their photoreal animal character pipeline. Structured as a part-time contract running across October – December, this role is remote-friendly with occasional in-person sessions at their London studio. If you are an experienced rigger and asset specialist who excels at bridging high-end photo retouching with advanced cut-out rigging techniques, this project provides a unique technical platform.
Selected artists will manage the character setup process end-to-end, from preparing orthographic turnarounds for an on-set photo shoot to assembling multi-angle cut-out rigs optimized for downstream neural video passes. The studio values deep pipeline expertise, precise joint articulation planning, and creative problem-solving across specialized television productions.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
The Senior Rigger & Asset Artist will oversee photo asset curation and puppet assembly across several key pipeline stages:
- Blueprint & Shoot Specifications: Assemble orthographic turnarounds and annotate camera specifications to guide on-set reference photo shoots for animal characters.
- Plate Curation & Asset Breakdown: Ingest hero plates, execute precise layer breakdowns, perform joint under-painting, and build standard dialogue phoneme libraries.
- Puppet Rigging & Optimization: Build robust, multi-angle cut-out rigs in Toon Boom Harmony structured specifically for downstream neural video passes.
Required Software Knowledge & Skills
