Compositor (Mid-Level & Senior) opening

Studio Name: Dark Shadow VFX

Job opening: Compositor (Mid-Level & Senior)

Job Location: British Columbia, Canada (Fully Remote – BC Residents Only)

Employment Type: Contract / Full-Time (Late Summer into Early Fall)

Core Focus: High-end digital compositing, seamless live-action integration, hero shot execution, and pipeline plate finaling

Key Requirements: Strong compositing foundations, a solid artistic eye for detail, comfort handling a high volume of varied shots under tight schedules, and active residency within British Columbia

Dark Shadow VFX is gearing up for a significant influx of production deliverables and is launching an immediate recruitment push for talented Mid-Level and Senior Compositors. This seasonal pipeline surge is scheduled to run through late summer and into early fall. The position offers a fully remote workflow structure, but is strictly restricted to active residents of British Columbia, Canada. If you are a dedicated compositing professional who balances deep technical craft with structural problem-solving under tight delivery timelines, this studio block provides an excellent track to deploy your skills.

Selected digital artists will take charge of complex integration challenges, managing everything from premium, high-visibility hero shots to essential foundational production patches. The studio floor runs an agile real-time pipeline layout, prioritizing self-motivated individuals who maintain artistic integrity and collaborative communication parameters from setup to final script export.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

The compositing specialist will execute seamless image integrations across multiple active pipeline blocks:

  • Seamless Element Integration: Combine live-action plates with CG passes, digital environments, and matte paintings while ensuring perfect perspective, color space, and lighting alignments.
  • Shot Finaling: Own the execution of both complex, narrative-driven hero shots and technical, unglamorous utility plates with the same level of care and artistic dedication.
  • Schedule Optimization: Package and deliver high-quality nodes efficiently under tight production schedules without compromising the artistic integrity of the craft.

Required Software Knowledge & Skills

Candidates applying for this British Columbia remote role must demonstrate advanced technical agility alongside these benchmarks:

  • Primary Pipeline Tool: Absolute, high-level production-proven operational command over the Nuke compositing suite.
  • Artistic Acumen: A highly developed, critical eye for photo-realism, grain integration, edge treatment, black levels, and optical camera dynamics.
  • Location Parameter: This is a strict regional intake. Applicants must be verified residents of British Columbia to cooperate within provincial infrastructure parameters.
