Job Opening: Cloth Simulation Artist

Studio 56 is urgently seeking a highly skilled Cloth Simulation Artist for a short-term contract position. This role is tailored for technical creatives with a sophisticated understanding of fabric properties, physical material behavior, and high-end dynamic solvers. You will be responsible for creating realistic cloth setups and moving them cleanly through our production pipeline for feature film and major VFX projects. If you have an excellent artistic eye for fabric detailing and can deliver render-ready simulation assets, we want to see your reel.
Key Responsibilities & Core Tasks
- Execute high-end Cloth Simulation & Dynamics to achieve photorealistic behavior on moving characters and environments.
- Handle look development and specialized shading setups specifically tailored for diverse fabric types.
- Deliver fully optimized, render-ready assets and complex simulation scene setups.
- Collaborate within an active feature film and VFX pipeline, troubleshooting technical artifacts and interpenetration errors.
Requirements & Technical Skills
- Experience: Proven track record working on high-end feature film or complex VFX projects.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced skills using Marvelous Designer, Houdini, and Maya (familiarity with Nuke workflows is an advantage).
- Technical Mastery: A solid, deep understanding of physical fabric properties, weight, structure, and dynamic behavior.
- Portfolio: A strong, descriptive showreel detailing realistic cloth simulations, breakdown workflows, and final composite shots.
