Job opening: Environment Artist
Job Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India (In-Office) / Remote Options Available
Employment Type: Full-Time (FTE) / Contract

Key Requirements: Strong Blender proficiency, experience in low-to-mid poly modeling, expertise in stylized fantasy art direction, and a portfolio showcasing complete playable environments
Nandaka Interactive is expanding its core development team and launching a recruitment drive for an Environment Artist to work on an ambitious, stylized RPG title. The studio operates a Blender-first, open-source-friendly asset production pipeline. This track is designed specifically for world-builders who want to go beyond individual prop design to craft rich, cohesive, and fully playable environments with an excellent sense of scale, gameplay readability, and stylized visual appeal.
This role offers a structured workspace tailored for self-motivated creators who love fantasy environments. Based in Chennai for in-office execution, the studio is also opening up remote options for artists who demonstrate exceptional scene composition and technical execution in their portfolios.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
The chosen artist will take ownership of setting up immersive locations throughout the game’s fantasy world:
- World Composition: Design complete interactive scenes, handling everything from terrain layout and level dressing to precise prop placement and world-building mechanics.
- Reference Translation: Study design documentation and concept art carefully, turning raw references into fully functional, navigable, and gameplay-readable game locations.
- Atmospheric Styling: Implement scene lighting and compositional arrangements within the low-to-mid poly framework to establish a strong artistic mood and maintain path readability.
Required Software Knowledge & Skills
Applicants should demonstrate practical skills in low-poly asset construction and open-source ecosystems:
- Core Software Suite: Strong, hands-on production modeling skills inside Blender, alongside a preference for working with open-source tools.
- Stylized Modeling: Proven experience modeling low-to-mid poly assets tailored for RPG or stylized fantasy aesthetics.
- Portfolio Standards: An active portfolio displaying complete, arranged environments rather than isolated props or standalone models.
