Job Opening: CG Supervisor
Location: Montreal, Canada
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Take charge of and plan incoming quotes in collaboration with the Director of Productions;
- Work in close collaboration with the 3D services supervisor and make sure to keep him informed and validate the actions taken on the project;
- Determine the needs and necessary resources with the appropriate people to complete the project according to the budget;
- Evaluate the technical needs of the project and the requirements of the production pipeline and propose adapted solutions in agreement with the Supervisor, VFX programming and the supervisor of 3D services;
- Validate with the production the actions to be undertaken;
- Carry out the overall supervision and preparation of projects and make sure to collect all the necessary information from the various stakeholders;
- Attend and actively participate in meetings and reviews with clients;
- Provide artistic expertise if necessary and when requested in collaboration with the Artistic Director;
- Plan and anticipate staffing needs;
- Participate in the recruitment of key positions in collaboration with the production team and HR;
- Assist in the recruitment of 3D artists to ensure the level of skills and experience required for the project;
- Coordinate with the production the assignments and transfers of artists on the projects;
- Test internal tools as needed;
- Explore new software;
- Stay alert to emerging industry technologies and production techniques, and determine the practical applications of these advances to improve production;
- Carry out exploratory meetings of the next tools in order to make expertise and their evaluation.
- Ensure the update of the technical documentation of the Wiki.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Have at least five (5) years of experience in film production, animated television series or visual effects with experience in department supervision;
- Have an excellent command of MAYA;
- Have in-depth knowledge of all technical and creative aspects of the CG animation production process;
- Have complete knowledge of the 3D pipeline;
- Be comfortable with a Linux / Unix environment;
- Know and know how to use the Shotgun asset manager;
- Knowing NUKE is an asset;
- Ability to work effectively with different personalities and diverse work styles;
- Know how to set priorities and work on several files at the same time effectively in a high-pressure environment, while respecting strict deadlines.
