Fractal Picture is expanding its production team in Mumbai and hiring experienced CG Layout Artists for an exciting Feature Animation project. This contract-based, work-from-office career opportunity is tailored for mid-to-senior layout professionals who possess a deep understanding of visual storytelling, camera composition, and cinematic staging.
Working closely with directors and supervisors, selected artists will be responsible for defining the initial physical and spatial frameworks of scenes, ensuring story beats translate fluidly into a 3D space.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
Selected artists will handle scene block-ins, cinematic composition, and sequence staging within the animation pipeline:
- Camera Composition & Animation: Establish precise shot framing, scale, lensing, and camera movement to effectively deliver narrative emotion and continuity.
- Staging & Scene Planning: Define asset positioning, character blocking, and choreography within the 3D environment to support the script and storyboard direction.
- Pipeline Collaboration: Coordinate closely with pre-production visualizers and downstream departments to ensure technical layout data moves efficiently through the studio pipeline.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Candidates applying for this feature-level production role must demonstrate the following professional benchmarks:
- Industry Experience: A solid baseline of 5 to 7 years of active experience as a layout artist, specifically working on high-end animation or VFX sequences.
- Cinematic Mastery: Strong foundation in the principles of cinematography, including lighting spaces, camera lenses, pacing, and visual storytelling rules.
- Evaluation Component: Complete willingness to take an intensive, in-house layout test as part of the studio’s technical selection process.
