Target Position: Lighting Artists (Junior / Mid / Senior / Lead)

Job Location: Remote / On-site (Madrid or Canary Islands, Spain)

Employment Type: Full-Time (3–4 Months Temporary Contract, Immediate Start)

Core Focus: Cinematic lighting, look development, shot composition, and visual storytelling across two 3D animated feature films

Key Requirements: Strong eye for color and atmosphere, collaborative mindset, and technical English proficiency

Able&Baker is scaling up its creative production department and hiring Lighting Artists across all experience levels to contribute to two highly ambitious 3D animated feature films currently in active production. Celebrated for creating high-end character-driven narratives, the studio provides an environment where storytelling, light, and visual mood converge on the big screen.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with directors and supervisors to shape the atmosphere, composition, and color dynamics of complex shots, helping push the visual quality of every sequence to its absolute highest potential.

Project Pipelines & Open Roles

The studio is recruiting for two distinct feature film pipelines tailored to different levels of expertise:

  • Project 1 (Lead & Senior Artists): Own look development foundations, establish master sequence lighting keys, and supervise shot continuity. This pipeline relies heavily on Houdini, Solaris, Arnold, and Nuke. Previous feature film experience is highly advantageous.
  • Project 2 (Junior, Mid, & Senior Artists): Light shots, manage render passes, and handle initial compositing adjustments to match the established sequence style. This pipeline runs on Maya, Arnold, and Nuke. Prior animation or VFX experience is a plus.

General Requirements & Skills

Candidates joining our international production team should fulfill the following criteria:

  • Artistic Vision: A highly developed artistic eye for color, visual pacing, value keys, dramatic shadows, and environmental atmosphere.
  • Pipeline Adaptability: Direct proficiency in the specified production software suites and rendering setups, relative to your target role level.
  • Communication: Fluent command of technical English for an international studio space. Conversational or professional Spanish language ability is considered an asset.
