Job Opening: Illustrator

Location: Atlanta, GA, USA

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Create and prepare original raster and vector-based illustrations consistent with the established band style;
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, animators and writers to develop and produce character concepts and support elements;
  • Participate in creative brainstorming meetings;
  • Revise artwork according to feedback;
  • Undertake relevant research to generate ideas relating to book and product creation;
  • Work with Licensing, Marketing and New Product Development departments to transform ideas/vision into designs appropriate for a wide variety of formats including but not limited to; environment design, retail space, presentation elements, print and 3D assets; and
  • Protect company assets through the proper management of asset files and adherence to company policy with regard to information security and management.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Excellent traditional and digital drawing skills required;
  • Superior ability to adapt to a variety of art styles;
  • Minimum of five (5) years professional illustration experience;
  • Children’s market background preferred, with a genuine passion for children’s books;
  • 3-D illustration preferred;
  • Exceptional character development experience with the ability to create multiple concept variations;
  • Solid foundation of human and animal anatomy required;
  • Visual storytelling capability required;
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite with a strong emphasis on Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign—on a Macintosh platform. Particularly interested in candidates with Adobe Illustrator mesh experience;
  • Outstanding ability to use pose and composition to create clear and definable movements;
  • Strong time management skills and ability to deliver against tight deadlines;
  • Outstanding ability to reproduce established characters, styles and assets within corporate standards;
  • Expert understanding of color theory;
  • Strong attention to detail, quality and process; and
  • Active listening skills, ability to take direction, collaborate and be a part of a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, Illustration, or related field
