Job Opening: Visual Effects Editor
Location: Mount Pleasant, Vancouver, BC, Canada
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Work in partnership with the VFX teams and Compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard while maintaining schedules.
- Participate in the delivery process by creating in-context cuts for the client and making sure the material sent matches the client specifications.
- Manage and document the turnover of shots from editorial through to delivery.
- Ensure Shotgun is maintained with current shot counts, lineup and any retime instructions.
- Maintain sequence edits and inserting visual effects shots into the timeline.
- Ensure that published shots conform to the current edit and perform basic QC checks.
- Prepare sequence edits for internal and client approvals when required.
- Perform shot specific color corrections to match editorial reference when required.
- Perform shot retimes to match supplied editorial reference when required.
- Create in-house reels including annual company reels, showreels, technical breakdowns, and awards reels.
- Occasionally create rough shot mockups as proof of concept for artists and supervisors.
- Maintain editorial info in databases
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Film, Art, Drama or related field or equivalent work experience required.
- Excellent knowledge of Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro X.
- Working knowledge of Shotgun software.
- Strong technical background and expert knowledge of all editorial tools.
- Working knowledge of film and digital formats, files, frame rates, resolutions, colour space and codecs.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in an efficient manner, set priorities and solve problems while meeting deadlines.
- Must possess very strong organizational and communication skills and be able to handle a variety of tasks in an efficient manner while meeting deadlines, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, work with diverse personalities, and work within tight timelines.
