Job Opening: Associate Technical Animator
Location: Seattle, WA; Champaign, IL; Orlando, FL
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and/or aid in the creation of animation behavior tools/techniques/philosophies that allow the building of complex movement systems in a manner accessible to the animation team.
- Learning to design, pitch, & iterate on ideas for character movement from concept stage forward. Examine desired player experience goals and introduce systems that help fulfill that experience
- Look for opportunities to improve the animation pipeline/workflow and help provide solutions for technical animation problems, including performing training and creating documentation for the animation team.
- Participate in conversations and structure of a large feature with an emphasis on accessibility, intuitive usability, and multi-platform interaction for developer use
- Perform daily hands-on engine work to bring ideas to life
Qualifications & Skills:
- Familiarity with modern animation behavior tools and concepts; experience with Unreal Engine Animation Blueprints is a plus.
- Familiarity with animation pipelines, including source content creation tools such as Maya and MotionBuilder, and the export process into a game engine.
- Knowledge of how to combine animations to create a desired look and feel.
- Proficiency with LUA, Python, Javascript and/or other script languages
- Game knowledge and an understanding of the design principles behind games
- Able to collaborate with animators, engineers and designers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coding knowledge is not expected or required, but experience with C++ is a plus.
- Desire to learn and grow in one or more of the following areas: Animation, General Gameplay, Tech Design, Tools
- Comfortable with rapid iteration based on feedback from many sources: peer review, data analytics, player surveys, etc.
- Ability to iterate & collaborate under deadlines & production constraints
- A passion for diversity & representation in games & game development
