Job Opening: UI Designer
Location: UK Remote or West Midlands Based
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Create visually stunning and intuitive user interfaces for AAA game projects, following best practices in user-centered design across a range of visual styles.
- Collaborate closely with Producers, Engineers, Creative Director, and Design/Art teams to understand the project requirements and translate them into engaging and user-friendly UI designs.
- Ensure content is optimized for real-time rendering applications, in line with quality/performance targets, and compliant with project-specific constraints.
- Create wireframes, mock-ups, and previs using industry-standard design tools, effectively communicating design concepts and interactions.
- Work closely with your Leads and the Production team to help prioritize tasks and feedback, meet project milestones, and deliver high-quality work on time.
- Problem-solve technical issues and workflow hurdles within your field.
- Work with the Art team to ensure consistency, quality, and coherence in visual design and artistic direction for each individual project.
- Stay up to date with the latest UI design & art trends, tools, and technologies that could benefit the wider team and actively contribute to the improvement of our pipeline.
- Conduct usability testing and analyse user feedback to identify areas of improvement and optimize the user experience.
Qualifications & Skills:
- A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual design skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Highly proficient in using industry-standard UI tools such as Unreal Engine’s Unreal Motion Graphics to create polished, animated, and fully functional UI.
- Proven experience as a UI Artist, Designer, or similar role, developing for multiple platforms.
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices, and the ability to apply them effectively in the design process.
- Familiarity with user research techniques, usability testing, and data-driven design decisions.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to find innovative solutions to technical challenges.
- Strong support-focused interpersonal skills, able to communicate and collaborate effectively.
- Give and receive critique well.
- Proven ability to manage your own time, working under deadlines whilst maintaining a high-quality bar.
- A passion for bringing impactful interface design to life in a game environment.
- Programming knowledge, such as HTML, C++, or C# languages to a production quality level.
- Good working knowledge of C++ for Unreal Engine.
- Previous shipped title(s) within a relevant game production pipeline.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices.
- Experience collaborating with remote or distributed teams.
