Job Opening: Head of Production
Location: Hybrid / London, UK
Type: 12-Month Contract
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the production department for The Line’s commercials business.
- Ensure all commercial projects are set up for success, supervising producers and production department staff to deliver projects on budget, on time and to deliver creative excellence.
- Risk assess incoming briefs from a production perspective.
- Review and approve outgoing quotes and schedules created by producers.
- Review, approve and sign client contracts, working with EP and legal consultants.
- Report project finances to stakeholders.
- Offer efficiencies in production pipelines, actively solve production problems and provide strategic oversight in achieving the required outcome for projects.
- Work alongside with EP to monitor the new business pipeline; consider and report to the stakeholders the impact/effect to the department.
- Create, maintain and foster relationships with outsourcing partners.
- Allocate prod dept resources for each project, including recruitment of production freelancers.
- Provide onboarding and briefing to the new employee and freelance staff about project structure, process, and technicalities.
- Manage and facilitate weekly production meetings, and the bi-weekly department meeting.
- Line manage direct reports: supervise and mentor for their career progression and wellbeing.
- You report to the Executive Producer.
- There will be a minimum 4-week handover period and a 3-month probationary period.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 3 years experience working as a senior producer or HOP is essential.
- Experience having line-managed staff is essential.
- Ideal to have experience in 2D frame-by-frame animation but not necessary if coming from a CG and VFX background.
- Experience managing a team of production staff (PMs, PCs, and PAs) across the lifespan of a project. Proficient in clearly communicating high volumes of complex information concisely to all levels of stakeholders.
- Experience working with clients and agencies is essential. Long form/series experience is a plus.
