Job Opening: Technical UI Designer, Unreal Engine (Digital D&D)
Location: Fully Remote
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Master the Arcane: Collaborate with game leadership on high-level UI systems, ensuring the best technical UI practices in Unreal are being followed by colleagues.
- Lead the Way: Own your work from initial design documentation to implementation of blueprint logic and connection to native code. Help others understand how these systems work and why we are building them.
- Min-max Systems: Work with engineers and artists to ensure designs can be easily implemented and iterated on or reworked, while managing performance within memory and CPU constraints.
- Explore Dungeons: Build up and maintain detailed documentation for all owned features, leaving no pathways unexplored.
- Fire up the Forge: Build content to exercise systems and contribute design horsepower to the construction of various content creation tools.
- Join the Party: Regularly play the game, providing constructive feedback and suggestions to other members of the team.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 2+ released and reviewable games in Unreal with UI design responsibilities or equivalent experience.
- Proven track record as a game designer in a professional capacity.
- Deep knowledge of gameplay logic and Unreal blueprints. Familiarity with data structures and general programming concepts.
- Strong analytical skills and a love for efficient problem-solving.
- Positive, direct, collaborative communication to improve our shared vision.
- Flexible, adaptable approach with a constant appetite for new knowledge and experiences.
- Self-sufficient and self-motivated, able to manage a feature from start to finish but also know when to ask for mentorship or help.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Dungeons & Dragons / TTRPG design and a drive to keep updated with the latest trends in the industry.
- Understanding of UX concepts and the UX design process, from initial research to implementation with the ability to build flow charts.
- Experience using Adobe Suite (especially Photoshop), or game industry 3D-packages (especially Maya).
