Job Opening: Technical Artist (FX)

Location: Burnaby, BC, Canada

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain FX art pipelines for creating game assets, identify and address inefficiencies in the process
  • Create shaders to define the visual properties of game objects, such as materials, lighting, and post-processing effects
  • Analyze and comprehend performance restraints, and create optimization strategies to enhance efficiency for pipelines, workflows and tools to serve the team objectives
  • Act as a conduit between the art teams and engineers to ensure smooth, efficient pipelines and implementations of various art and designs
  • Develop and maintain workflows for major features that require efficient content generation
  • Create tools and improve the art team’s efficiency in Maya and Houdini

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 4+ years of experience working on AAA titles in the games industry, with a minimum of 2 years experience with particles and effects
  • Intermediate programming experience with languages such as Python, Pymel, or Pyqt
  • Ability to create and optimize workflows and processes for content creation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Self-motivated  and capable of making responsible decisions for the project
  • Strong familiarity working with Houdini and Maya
Nice to haves:
  • Experience with environment and animation workflow
  • Exposure to Unreal Engine, Unity, or similar large engines
  • Familiarity with rendering techniques and shaders is an asset
  • A passion for games!
