Job Opening: Supervisor VFX

Location: Burbank, CA, US

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the VFX department, managing a team of artists, coordinators, and other VFX professionals.
  • Collaborate with Creative Directors and Producers to develop and implement the visual effects vision for each project.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and budgeting of VFX projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Provide creative and technical leadership, guiding the VFX team through all phases of production, from concept to final delivery.
  • Ensure the highest quality of visual effects, maintaining the creative integrity and technical standards of Sphere Entertainment Co.
  • Work with the production team to identify and solve technical and creative challenges.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, techniques, and technologies, and implement best practices within the VFX department.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting open communication and teamwork.
  • Mentor and develop junior artists, providing guidance and feedback to help them grow in their careers.
  • Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of VFX work, providing constructive feedback to the team.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including, Ai Innovation, Real-time production events, Animation, Compositing, and Production, to ensure seamless integration of VFX elements.
  • Ensure that all VFX work adheres to the Exo Sphere specifications and creative guidelines.
  • Document tools, techniques, and workflows for departmental reference.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in the VFX industry, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality visual effects for film, television, commercials, VR, or theme park projects.
  • Expert knowledge of VFX software and tools, including Maya, Nuke, Houdini, After Effects, C4D, Unreal and other industry-standard applications.
  • Strong understanding of VFX pipelines, workflows, and best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing creative and technical demands.
  • Experience working on set
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of artists.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Passion for innovation and a commitment to staying at the forefront of industry trends and technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Visual Effects, Animation, Film, or a related field is preferred.
