Job Opening: Sr Lighting Artist
Location: Austin, Texas, United States
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Create photo-realistic visuals through lighting complex scenes.
- Works closely with Lighting and Environment Leads to keep workflows and quality consistent across all environments.
- Assist with improving lighting content pipeline.
- Assist with Pre-production scoping and scheduling.
- Work with adjacent departments to support organization and communication across dependencies.
- Assist in managing and mentoring fellow Lighting artists, create tutorials, share techniques, and draft documentation to grow the teams knowledge.
- Work with Leads and Designers in a collaborative environment to create beautiful and engaging gameplay spaces and scenes.
- Utilize creative troubleshooting techniques to optimize and deliver clean and organized assets.
- Uphold a sense of professional ownership, keep a positive attitude, and ensure your task is completed to the Bluepoint quality bar.
- Proficient with project management software like Jira
Qualifications & Skills:
- Has shipped at least one AAA project in a senior lighting position.
- Advanced understanding of Maya and Photoshop.
- Expertise with PBR practices.
- Strong understanding of how physically based rendering systems and lighting interact.
- Excellent foundational skills, including composition, shadow and light, design, structure, silhouette, and color theory.
- Well developed skills of color-grading and color correction in a post-production setting.
- Excellent understanding of how physically-based cameras work.
- Excellent understanding of the environment art pipeline, dependencies, and overall scope of the project.
- The ability to work with detailed concept art or reference art materials.
- Excellent mentoring abilities, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organization and priority management skills.
- Ability to find creative solutions for technically challenging tasks.
