Job Opening: Head of Unreal Department

Location: Remote

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities: 

  • Work in coordination with pipeline team;
  • Delegate unreal needs of the project(s) to the unreal tech art team; represent the voice of the unreal team in regards to workload and pipeline environment in strategic and high level planning meetings;
  • Lead, motivate and coach our unreal team to ensure all unreal productions are done in time using the optimal tools and methods;
  • Responsible for the management of the unreal tech team, unreal pipeline tools work and overview unreal production across projects;
  • Lead by example and maintain a hands-on unreal and tool programming role if needed, but also help unblock / debug / test project specific tools or solutions;
  • Assist in the production of plans for each unreal project;
  • Always on top of Unreal development news and aware of new techniques or solutions that might help / optimize the workflow;
  • Participate in the evaluation of future unreal projects with the producers.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previously held a team supervisory role;
  • Previously held tech art position in UE4 in game production for at least 5 years and shipped more than 1 game with it;
  • Creative and technical ability;
  • Strong technical background is essential;
  • Strong technical understanding of CG pipelines and ability to develop effective workflows related to different fields in Unreal;
  • Strong knowledge of Python for Unreal;
  • Strong understanding of modeling, rigging, texturing; generalist experience is essential;
  • Experience using : Maya, Houdini, Substance / Photoshop is required to be able to provide correct feedback to the modeling or rigging departments;
  • An overall understanding of the workflow from every department is required to be able to drive and negotiate the solutions with other HODs;
  • Knowledge and understanding of object oriented programming is required;
  • Experience driving technical changes in companies is a plus;
  • Knowledge of Unreal C++ is a plus;
  • Experience in other programming languages is a plus.
