Job Opening: Senior Technical Artist
Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada/Vancouver, Canada/Montreal, Canada
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Define content creation standards (data structure, naming conventions, specs)
- Evaluate runtime performance, provide guidance to the content creation team on performance issues.
- Work with programmers, artists, and designers to establish metrics and workflows around performance management and asset validation to ensure that the game operates within established targets
- Develop and maintain base shaders
- Create and maintain tools to assist artists with their daily workflows
- Review content at each stage of development and provide feedback to artists
- Provide the first line of support for troubleshooting artist issues, and ensure that those that need escalation are resolved
- Help maintain shared scripting libraries and participate in code reviews
Qualifications & Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in the industry
- Have shipped at least 1 title using Unreal Engine 4/5
- Experienced in content management skills (naming convention, data structure, validation)
- Experience with Python or tools development
- Experience with 3D modeling, world-building, and node-based scripting systems (materials, blueprints)
- Nice to have:
- C++ Experience
- Unreal PCG experience
