Job Opening: Senior Technical Artist

Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada/Vancouver, Canada/Montreal, Canada

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Define content creation standards (data structure, naming conventions, specs)
  • Evaluate runtime performance, provide guidance to the content creation team on performance issues.
  • Work with programmers, artists, and designers to establish metrics and workflows around performance management and asset validation to ensure that the game operates within established targets
  • Develop and maintain base shaders
  • Create and maintain tools to assist artists with their daily workflows
  • Review content at each stage of development and provide feedback to artists
  • Provide the first line of support for troubleshooting artist issues, and ensure that those that need escalation are resolved
  • Help maintain shared scripting libraries and participate in code reviews

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in the industry
  • Have shipped at least 1 title using Unreal Engine 4/5
  • Experienced in content management skills (naming convention, data structure, validation)
  • Experience with Python or tools development
  • Experience with 3D modeling, world-building, and node-based scripting systems (materials, blueprints)
  • Nice to have:
  • C++ Experience
  • Unreal PCG experience
