Job Opening: Senior System Administrator
Location: Milan, Italy and Tenerife, Spain
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Analyze the studio’s internal technology in terms of hardware and software.
- Design improvements to maximize the efficiency of the production department.
- Manage various infrastructure components to enable the production staff to work seamlessly.
- Manage and enhance the network infrastructure with a focus on remote access needs.
- Handle cybersecurity towards external threats and user-side logging.
- Coordinate operations in a mixed operating system environment (80% Windows, 15% Linux, 5% Mac).
- Negotiate contracts with new suppliers for the installation of new technologies and manage existing supplies.
- Prepare cost-benefit analyses for any workflow changes.
- Be at the forefront of research and development of new tools and equipment to facilitate studio operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the IT sector.
- Extensive knowledge of network infrastructure and its various components.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity and network security.
- Solid scripting skills in multiple environments (Bash Scripting, Windows Batch, Powershell).
- Solid knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems (Debian-based and RH-based).
- Solid knowledge of required hardware.
- Solid knowledge of HTTP/REST services and their implementation.
- Solid knowledge of LDAP and user network management in a mixed environment.
- Knowledge of databases (Postgres and Mongo).
Desired Requirements (in addition to the minimum):
- Knowledge of the VFX industry and its technologies (from DCC software like Maya, Houdini, Nuke to dispatchers like Deadline).
- Medium to advanced proficiency in Python programming.
- Previous experience in engineering similar infrastructures in the VFX industry.
- Previous experience in engineering storage systems (both hardware and software).
