Job Opening: Senior Compositor
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage compositors, overseeing the running of a project or sequence as well as completing complex shot work
- Determine and design the creative and technical approach for assigned work
- Offer solutions to improve comp workflow, promoting efficiency that supports overall shot quality
- Provide shot/sequence feedback across dailies and review sessions
- Advocate best practices and guide, mentor, and support artists in working efficiently and effectively optimized for clean workflow, setup sharing, revision resolution, and quality assurance all within assigned targets
- Confident across broad areas of roto, pre-comp, look dev, right through to completing tech checks
- Support production with time estimates to assist in bidding
Qualifications & Skills:
- 7+ years of high-end naturalistic, live-action VFX compositing
- Solid experience covering advanced Nuke, and knowledge of Python scripting, Gizmos & deep compositing
- Open to delivering and taking feedback, adapting and helping others to consider alternative approaches
- Collaborative approach to supporting the comp team
- Strong eye for detail, image composition, color, layout, lighting, and motion
- Confident working interdepartmentally
- An openness to leading small shows and sequences
- Ability to manage time in support of hitting scheduled deliveries
- Excellent, clear English language communicator – written, spoken, etc
- Respect, integrity, and a positive can-do attitude coupled with a sense of fun & humor.
