Job Opening: Rigging Artist
Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Create realistic rigs for creatures and photo-real objects;
- Build and maintain rigs using internal tools;
- Assist in the creation of new rigs and rig components;
- Complete small tasks in adjacent disciplines to support teams with assets and perform rig maintenance as required;
- Collaborate with the team to continue to develop an internal rigging framework;
- Create tools with Python and the Maya API to enable Animators to create realistic animation;
- Work with Lead TDs and Animators to develop and integrate tools into a robust pipeline.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Three or more years of experience as a CG Rigger;
- Strong knowledge of Rigging bases (Hierarchies, Connections, Constraints, Deformers…)
- Good skinning deformations management with Standard Maya tools or NGSkinTools.
- Extensive knowledge of creature anatomy and a keen eye for the mechanical details of objects;
- Demonstrated ability to rig a variety of characters/objects in a realistic, non-cartoon manner
- The ability to create small animations (range-of-motion, demos, etc) as required;
- Must be comfortable with Python scripting for Maya. Knowledge of MEL, Maya API, and C++ a plus;
- Willingness to work flexibly with CG teams to solve geometry problems related to assets;
- Willingness to work with artists within the pipeline to understand workflow and pipeline concerns related to assets;
- The ability to manage time and balance priorities in a task-driven environment;
- The ability to communicate effectively with the rigging team and department supervisor
- A solid work ethic and a positive attitude as a team player.
