Job Opening: 3D Lead
Location: Spain, UK – Fully Remote
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Support:
- Lead the 3D art team through regular check-ins, ensuring work is on track and feedback from senior leadership is communicated clearly.
- Mentor and support team members on technical and creative challenges.
- Provide support to external contractors, to ensure efficient onboarding and integration into the permanent team
- Project Management:
- Work with Art Producer on scheduling, resource allocation, and task tracking to ensure project milestones are met.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on project scoping, resourcing, and technical problem-solving.
- Maintain project progress in Linear, adjusting tasks as necessary to avoid blockers.
- Technical Oversight:
- Guide the team in technical areas such as pipeline, optimization, environment blockouts, and testing.
- Explore real-time technologies and improve processes to enhance production quality and efficiency.
- Steer Technical Artists in the choices and techniques to be used to maximise the quality and performance of the experience.
- 3D Production:
- Support the team with asset creation at every stage of modeling, texturing, and optimisation of realtime 3D assets, ensuring high-quality visual delivery.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide hands-on support for asset creation when necessary.
- Research and implement improvements for 3D processes and workflows.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience in a leadership role, ideally managing small to medium teams of 3-10 members.
- Expert understanding of 3D production pipelines, with hands-on experience in Unity, Substance Suite, and at least one 3D package such as Maya, 3Ds Max, or Blender.
- Expertise in creating real-time immersive 3D environments and assets that push the visual boundaries.
- Ability to scope, estimate, and delegate tasks efficiently, with a deep understanding of both creative and technical aspects of 3D art production.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing both internal teams and external contractors effectively.
- Previous experience working in small to mid-sized studios.
- Experience with Perforce is great, but not a necessity.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
- A collaborative mindset, always open to feedback, and willing to push creative boundaries.
- Artistic eye with extensive technical expertise in real-time 3D technologies.
- Creative with a knack for problem-solving and the ability to inspire and lead the team.
- A professional with strong soft skills, proficient in conveying expectations, coordinating workloads, and handling conflict resolution thoughtfully and diplomatically.
