Job Opening: Simulation FX Artist

Location: Remote (HQ in Poland, EU)

Type: Freelance (Project-Based)

Responsibilities:

  • Create high-fidelity simulations based on real-world references and artistic briefs
  • Develop custom simulation setups and proprietary FX tools
  • Design and execute both photoreal and abstract particle-based effects
  • Optimize simulation workflows for efficiency and artistic control
  • Contribute your own artistic vision to achieve a unique visual style

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5+ years of professional FX/simulation experience
  • Strong eye for detail and natural movement
  • Ability to balance technical constraints with artistic goals
  • Excellent problem-solving and optimization skills
  • Passion for exploring new simulation techniques
  • Mastery of SideFX Houdini with emphasis on:
    • DOPs and solvers (FLIP, pyro, grains, vellum)
    • VEX and Python scripting
    • PDG/TOPs for task automation
    • Advanced particle systems and custom force fields
  • Proficiency in:
    • Karma GPU rendering and optimization (strongly required)
    • Material creation and shader development
    • Lighting setup for FX integration
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Real-world physics principles
    • Procedural modeling techniques
