Job Opening: Level Designer
Location: Remote
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Design and graybox game environments in collaboration with the creative team
- Own the design process from concepting to prototyping, contributing to the creative process at all stages
- Iterate and playtest based on team feedback
- Ability to understand the interplay between systems and world spaces, building spaces that highlight systems or abilities in interesting and creative ways
- Collaborate closely with Art, Design, and Writing to uphold creative direction
- Work closely with the Tech, Tech Art and Gameplay teams to create and automate processes
- Place existing actors and other level gameplay elements required
- Compile and maintain precise design documentation
- Help to communicate design decisions across all teams
Qualifications & Skills:
- 2+ years of experience as a Level Designer
- Experience with Unity-level creation processes, whitebox modelling and/or prototype tools.
- Clear understanding of iterative level design, from inception to completion, and into post-ship support
- Ability to critique and evaluate 3D spaces, understanding how art, color, lighting, and composition can complement gameplay design
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong skills in collaboration, ability to act with compassion
- Comfortable and accomplished at working with remote teams
Nice to Have:
- Passionate about story-driven role playing games
- Scripting/programming experience
- Knowledge of 3D modelling software
- Experience creating guides and modular kits to streamline the prototyping process
- Experience working on isometric games
- Basic knowledge of lighting in Unity
- Basic knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Miro, spreadsheet and writing tools or similar software.
