Job Opening: Pipeline Technology Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the strategic vision for production technology, ensuring alignment between pipeline infrastructure, production needs, and long-term studio goals.
  • Define and own the technical roadmap across shows, balancing innovation with operational stability and cross-team scalability.
  • Lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture.
  • Oversee project management for key technical initiatives — from scoping and prioritisation to delivery — using agile, iterative practices and clear milestone tracking.
  • Collaborate closely with production, leads/managers, and studio leadership to proactively identify workflow gaps, manage risk, and deliver systems that support efficient content creation.
  • Manage communication between stakeholders and technical teams, translating creative and production goals into actionable development plans.
  • Coordinate evaluation, integration, and lifecycle support for both proprietary code and third-party software tools (e.g., Unreal Engine, Maya, Houdini, ShotGrid, Adobe Suite).
  • Ensure robust documentation, testing, and version control practices are in place to maintain production continuity and pipeline reliability.
  • Track and analyse pipeline performance metrics, championing continuous improvement and smart scaling as production volume increases.
  • Contribute to studio-wide technology planning and budget forecasting in partnership with the Head of Production and CEO.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience in a senior technical or pipeline leadership role within an animation, VFX, or interactive content studio.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams and deliver complex, cross-functional projects on time and within scope.
  • Strong understanding of modern production workflows, pipeline design, and DCC software ecosystems (e.g., Maya, Houdini, Unreal, ShotGrid, Substance Painter, ToonBoom Harmony, Storyboard Pro).
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and long-term planning capabilities, with experience setting roadmaps and scaling technology solutions.
  • Deep knowledge of project management methodologies, tools (e.g., Jira, Notion), and development workflows (Agile, Scrum, Kanban).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to align diverse technical and non-technical groups.
  • Familiarity with scripting or coding in Python and/or similar languages — hands-on skills are valued, though this role is more management-focused.
  • Experience integrating third-party solutions, managing vendor relationships, or evaluating build vs. buy decisions.
  • A collaborative, people-first mindset with a bias toward action, continuous improvement, and thoughtful leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a technical leadership capacity.

  • Formal training or certification in Agile, Scrum, or PMI project management.

  • Experience with Perforce/Helix Core.
