Job Opening: Lighting Artist

Location: Chatham, UK / Remote

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Understand composition and the ability to enhance environments and locations through lighting.
  • Experience with Physically Based Rendering tools.
  • General understanding of Shaders and materials.
  • 1-2 years of lighting experience on PC or console hardware (Xbox One, Xbox Series S & X, PS4, PS5, ).
  • Work with the designers and technical artists to create balanced and atmospheric lighting for in-game environments and cinematics.
  • Work with Technical Artists and Engineers to create lighting-specific tools and features.
  • Make any changes requested in an iterative intense pipeline.
  • Author pre-baked and real-time lighting via proprietary software.
  • Create lighting-related visual effects including fire, heat glows, and post effects.
  • Maintain and ensure runtime performance and optimize when required.
  • Undertake performance profiling and optimization of the UE4 and UE5 Engines across multiple platforms.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Be able to rise to the challenges and problem-solve when required.
  • Passion to raise the bar in video game lighting.
  • Working knowledge of 2D packages such as Photoshop/Substance/Quixel.
  • Knowledge of 3D packages such as 3DS Max or Maya.
  • Knowledge of the Unreal Engine or similar
  • Knowledge of a variety of baked and real-time lighting methods
