Job Opening: Level Designer
Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Create 1st person combat levels full of monsters, secrets, traps, and more
- Coordinate with the project director and design team to ensure consistency of execution for the project vision across its level design
- Work with artists, programmers, and fellow designers to develop and rapidly iterate on game’s levels and layouts
- Write and maintain clear design documentation to be used outside the design department and work with the programming, animation, audio, and effects teams on the implementation
- Partake in play sessions, studying players, and adjusting level layouts based on feedback
Qualifications & Skills:
- 2+ years experience in video game 1st person level design working on a team of 10 or more
- Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 or equivalent engine
- Experience developing 1st person and procedural level layouts
- Familiarity with areas of level design such as layout, encounter, trap, and puzzle design
- Able to work closely with artists in order to realize both a level’s layout and visuals
- Understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies and the ability to anticipate and proactively design around gameplay challenges
- Understanding of CRPG systems
