Job Opening: Lead Rigging Artist
Location: Montréal / Québec, Canada
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the production team to ensure project tracking, progress and timely delivery
- Determine the best possible techniques and creative approaches to create exceptional rigs
- Work closely with the HOD rigging, CG and VFX supervisors to ensure rigs meet project standards and art direction
- Perform quality control
- Constructively critique artists’ work to ensure that it meets the required aesthetic of the project
- Verify that rigs meet basic technical standards before they are passed down the pipeline
- Provide feedback and mentoring to the artists
- Create complex rigs and skin systems using Maya animation tools
- Work closely with the animation and modeling departments to optimize and improve rigging work
- Contribute to documenting and defining workflows and standards
Qualifications & Skills:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the 3D animation industry;
- Experience as a Lead or in a similar role
- Relevant college and/or university education (3D animation, multimedia, programming, etc.);
- Excellent knowledge of Maya software and Python;
- Excellent knowledge of anatomy (facial, body, quadruped, etc.), movements and muscular system;
- Good knowledge of a pre-rendered production pipeline and the work done by other departments
- Good knowledge of French and English, both oral and written ;
- Knowledge of Vetala is an asset
- Knowledge of Unreal a plus
