Job Opening: Lead Artist – Costume Art

Location: Remote

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Be the voice and ears for the YoWorld Costume team by working closely with your Manager/Art Director and Production team to maintain efficient work flow and communication
  • Lead by example in creating benchmark animations and compelling assets including characters, costumes, props, facial features, and visual effects for our games
  • Ensure mentorship, work ethic, and deadlines are maintained within the YoWorld Costume team
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on all costume related work created in house
  • Work closely with outsourced art teams, reviewing assets, providing feedback, and mentoring artists with proper process documents and quality calls
  • Create templates and documents to provide solutions to workflow issues and help optimize the Costume Pipeline
  • Collaborate with Production, our Art Director, and other departments to execute on company direction
  • Take verbal concepts through to final execution of high quality artwork
  • Maintain a positive attitude throughout production
  • Documentation of onboarding, process, communication, reports, and status updates as required
  • Team administration (including but not limited to): hiring, 1:1s, peer mentorship, performance reviews, levelling up, and training

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5+ years of creating 2D game art (preferably in the social/mobile gaming space)
  • 4+ years of 2D animation
  • Expert working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Animate CC, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Ability to set priorities for yourself and others, as well as manage the progress of work
  • Proactive work ethic along with the ability to effectively give direction and communicate solutions to problems
  • Strong background in multiple 2D disciplines
  • Experience taking features from concept to final in-game art
  • Leadership experience, having overseen the work of other Artists
  • Strong understanding of the principles of animation
  • Strong understanding of perspective, composition, character design, colour theory, visual effects, and lighting
  • Strong knowledge of the game development process
  • Able to effectively and quickly build rapport amongst team members and peers
  • Task driven, self-motivated and proactive
