Job Opening: Lead 3D Character Artist
Location: Madrid, Spain
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Model and texture eye-catching 3D characters according to the game style.
- Make a significant and direct contribution to the creation of 3D characters.
- Manage and mentor character artists, ensuring they all have clear actionable tasks, goals and regular constructive feedback.
- Work closely with Directors to define stylistic and technical foundations to help the team understand the project`s visual style and model and texture amazing characters.
- Maintain team’s quality, efficiency, and consistency across character creation.
- Define and document workflows and pipelines from the ground up in collaboration with concept art, design, tech art, rigging and animation.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to character pipelines and performance.
- Evangelize, present, and communicate art status of owned projects to the larger Tequila Works organization and the Management Team.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Art-related background/degree.
- 5+ years’ experience creating stylized character art for video games.
- Demonstrated experience within cross-discipline strike teams on collaborative assignments.
- Precise knowledge of anatomy, proportions, stylization, and color.
- Exceptional visual and technical understanding in sculpting, 3D modeling, retopology, Â texturing and rigging.
- Proficient with 3DSMax, Maya or Blender.
- Skilled with Zbrush and Substance Painter.
- Good understanding of Unreal Engine 5 and specifically about character integration.
- Have a flexible, innovative, and open-minded approach to problem-solving.
- Self-critical spirit and excellent communication and team-work skills.
