Position: Junior System Administrator
Location: On-site, Amsterdam office
Planet X is looking for a junior system administrator with a passion for technology and a drive to learn. You will help keep our artists productive by ensuring that our hardware, software, and infrastructure run smoothly. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented problem solver who thrives in collaborative environments, learns quickly, sets priorities effectively, and is eager to contribute to the future of real-time and cloud-based production.
Work Hours: 40 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities: Your work will be a mix of daily support and longer-term projects.
- Providing hardware and software support to artists.
- Handling tickets, from low-level issues (logins, printers, workstation fixes) to more complex troubleshooting.
- Managing creative software licenses and ensuring compliance (Adobe, Autodesk, Foundry, etc.).
- Setting up and maintaining servers, workstations, storage, and network systems.
- Writing small scripts and tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to automate tasks.
- Assisting on IT and pipeline projects, with the opportunity to take ownership and lead projects as you grow.
- Researching, testing, and rolling out new technologies and workflows.
- You’ll be working in an environment with powerful hardware (render nodes, high-end GPUs, storage clusters, and a multi-VLAN network) that supports our creative pipeline. You’ll get support from senior colleagues, but also plenty of freedom to experiment and develop your skills.
Requirements:
- Bachelor-level working and thinking (Dutch HBO)
- Eager to learn and unafraid to dive into new technologies.
- Strong communicator, organized, and proactive.
- Affinity with film and creative industries.
- Experience with Windows 11.
- Knowledge of Windows Server (incl. AD, DNS, VPN, RADIUS).
- Living within 25 km of Amsterdam
