Job Opening: Sr VFX Modeler
Location: Hillsboro, Oregon, US
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain complex models including characters, character components, creatures, props, and environments.
- Align models with film design while considering technical constraints of visual effects.
- Implement model changes based on Supervisor or Lead direction.
- Work with different disciplines to ensure that topology and UVs work with achieving the character’s look and performance in the film.
- Work with scan data to reproduce or guide model aesthetic.
- Adjust UVs and topology of model deliverables for downstream departments.
- Ensure all deliverables meet the needs of all receiving departments.
- Support modeling needs of Techvis, Layout, and other VFX teams.
- Troubleshoot technical and creative problems. Make recommendations to improve modeling processes.
- Mentor artists in achieving creative workflows and techniques.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 10+ years of feature film or relevant industry experience (CG and/or Visual Effects).
- Proficient using Maya and Zbrush for the creation of photorealistic CG characters and creatures.
- Proficient using Maya for the creation of both hard surface and organic models.
- Strong understanding and experience in the creation and use of geometry assets in a production setting.
- Familiarity with scripting in Python, MEL, or HScript.
- Strong Knowledge of polygonal, Nurbs, and subdivision surface types.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of feature film pipelines.
- Life drawing and sculpting experience a plus.
- Experience with 3D printers and mechanical engineering a plus.
- Experience with SpeedTree, Marvelous Designer, Houdini, Unreal, MOTO, Mudbox, Photoshop, Inventor, TogoGun, Mari, Substance a plus.
