Job Opening: Senior Combat Designer

Location: Barcelona/ Copenhagen/ Malmö/ Brighton/ Istanbul

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • As a Senior Combat Designer, you will work with the gameplay director and combat team in realising the combat vision.
  • As part of the combat team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving all aspects of combat, including player mechanics, abilities, weapons, enemies, and the combat camera.
  • Collaborate with the AI team in detailing new and improving existing AI behaviours, weapons, and abilities that support the combat vision.
  • Evangelise the combat vision and regularly communicate the goals and status to the wider team.
  • Apply a hands-on approach to fine tuning and balancing moment-to-moment combat gameplay using our proprietary engine and tools.
  • Create, communicate, and maintain detailed and purposeful design documentation during the project’s lifetime.
  • Use metrics, feedback, and a multitude of diverse analytics to improve and refine the design.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experienced as Senior Combat Designer or above for at least 3 years.
  • Experienced in designing close-quarter and/or ranged combat systems.
  • Shipped at least one AAA game where you were heavily involved in, or in charge of, player combat mechanics and abilities.
  • Experienced with visual scripting languages (Blueprint, Node Graphs, and so on).
  • Have a deep understanding of third-person combat gameplay, and a passion for pushing the design boundaries.
