Job Opening: Layout Artist- Jedi Academy (Internship)
Location: Vancouver, Canada
Type: Internship
Responsibilities:
- Produce high-quality entry-level shot work for camera tracking, character matching (matchanim), solving lens distortion, creative camera work and deformation matching of surfaces
- Replicate completed projects’ shots to learn about Layout’s all-encompassing skills sets
- Complete work within the timeframe bid
- Strengthen professional habits, including best practices for presenting work in dailies, working as a team, and communicating effectively
- Gain knowledge and appreciation of ILM’s culture and history
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Graphics, Fine Arts, Design or Photography or related OR experience working in the industry
- Demonstrated ability in one or more CG techniques relevant to the layout discipline including camera tracking, object and character matchanimating, animation, and motion capture cleanup
- Understanding of photography and the effects of different lenses used in a variety of scenarios
- Strong personal work that represents artist skills and interest in VFX
- Strong teamwork, excellent communication, and interdisciplinary thinking
- Interest in and ability to quickly pick up new software
- Entry-level knowledge in some or all of the following software packages: Maya, PFTrack, 3DEqualizer, and Nuke. Comparable software experience considered.
- Nice to have:
- Knowledge of Linux, Houdini
- Coding/Scripting knowledge (Python, Mel) a plus
