Job Opening: Gameplay Art Director

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Directing and guiding the VFX, Audio, and UI teams through the pipeline from conception to completion
  • Collaborate with Creative Director, Design Director, Engineering, Narrative, and other Department Leads to ensure gameplay elements are immersive, interactive, visually interesting, fun to play, and provide unforgettable experiences for the player
  • Work with Department Leads to define style guides and standards and improve gameplay-related production pipelines
  • Work with the Art Teams (Audio, VFX, and UI teams primarily) and guide collaboration with other departments on all visual and interactive gameplay-specific work
  • Provide direction and feedback for gameplay content (Audio, VFX, UI) and maintain high quality and consistency across the overall art direction of the game
  • Work closely with the Production team throughout gameplay art pipelines from conception to completion to ensure timelines and other needs for art teams are communicated effectively
  • Provide mentorship and coaching for team members including but not limited to 1:1s, career developments, performance evaluations, and goal setting.
  • Maintain a high-level view of the overall Audio, VFX, and UI gameplay pipeline and provide creative solutions for content and process from conception to completion

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience as an Art Director who has shipped a AAA title on a Console or PC
  • Demonstrated experience working on or directing various art disciplines from conception to completion
  • Demonstrated experience working with modern FPS engines (UE4, etc.) and modern art pipelines
  • Strong sense of design, a deep understanding of foundational art principles, and a deep understanding of what makes a gameplay experience successful
  • Keen production sensibilities, ability to collaborate on timelines and communicate with Production, Leads, and team members on task duration and prioritization
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and teaching skills
  • Strong ability to interpret and adapt to general and flexible direction
  • Can thrive in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Basic understanding of Audio, VFX, and UI pipelines and process
  • A passion for games and polished gameplay experiences
