Job Opening: Game Director

Location: South Pasadena, CA, USA / Remote

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Direct all aspects of game development, applying critical thinking and imagination to engineer exceptional player experience, quality, storytelling, genre resonance, and representation in the game
  • Identify market opportunities and player needs, create a product pitch, and work with the team to greenlight the project
  • Working with the Technical Directors and Executive Producer, develop and maintain clear frameworks and rituals for quality measurement, feedback resolution, and game iteration
  • Ensure key game pillars and features enable the strategic vision of the game
  • Work closely with the Chief Creative Officer and Art Director to craft and communicate a compelling vision
  • Ensure that the game choices further the strategic vision for the game and are in keeping with our studio strategy and values
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary development team
  • Be the main point of communication for the game, including clearly and compellingly representing the game to internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify the needs and desires of players and evolve the game to provide an epic player experience
  • Work with the Producer Team to determine and monitor the production priorities, scope, team resource needs, and modifications
  • Define the design methods appropriate to the project and communicate those with the team

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 8+ years of game development experience
  • 5+ years in a leadership role in internal game development
  • 2+ AAA shipped titles, with at least one from concept to ship
  • Deep understanding of games and multiple game genres
  • Experience building, leading, and mentoring cross-disciplinary teams
  • Competency in one or more coding languages (C++, C#)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with leadership and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4 and multiplayer implementation patterns
  • Experience developing games in action, fantasy, or horror genres
  • Passion for cooperative and competitive multiplayer games
