Job Opening: FX Technical Director
Location: New York, NY
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with CG department stakeholders on maintaining and refining the production pipeline and asset library.
- Mentoring and supervising Junior developers and Technical Artists.
- Management of code base and coding integrity including code reviews and pull requests.
- Research and keep up to date on industry production standards, software, and hardware related specifically to CG and Compositing.
- Help support render needs for projects with onsite and offsite render farms as required.
- Work with Director, CG Supervisor, CG Lead and creative team to provide and develop CG solutions on jobs in production.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5+ years as a Pipeline TD working on the automation of a visual effects / CG animation studio.
- Full-Stack Experience using the MERN stack or similar.
- Expert level experience with version control for code and visual assets.
- Has worked in a scrum and agile environment and is familiar with a SDLC.
- Expert level experience with AWS (EC2, Spot Requests, ECS, IAM, basic architecture).
- Experience with Database management systems.
- Pipeline for advertising, episodic television, and/or feature film.
- Advanced Python scripting experience required.
- Familiarity with Rendering Queue Platforms such as Deadline.
- Familiarity with Production Tracking Platforms such as ftrack or ShotGrid.
- Advanced experience implementing custom UX / UI using PySide and/or PyQT.
- Experience with one or more of Autodesk Maya, SideFX Houdini, Foundry Nuke or similar.
- Thorough understanding of the entire visual effects / CG animation process, asset creation, animation, lighting, rendering, and compositing.
- Ability to take direction and feedback from stakeholders.
