Job Opening: FX Supervisor on Puffin Rock Feature Film
Location: Kilkenny, Ireland
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the consistent quality of the FX animation
- Work closely with the Director, Assistant Director, and Production Manager to establish the working method of the FX Department
- Create FX Breakdown with key crew and help in assigning FX to relevant departments
- Create & maintain an FX list for relevant depts of one-off scene effects, library effects, and compositing effects
- Work closely with the Director, Assistant Director, and Compositing Supervisor to create FX model sheets, animated FX elements and ensure composite references are consistent & understandable for the FX team and partner studios
- Collaborate with production and the Supervisors in other departments to help establish processes and pipeline integration on Shotgun
- Lead a small FX team
- Be responsible for ensuring the efficient design and preparation of each effect for use
- Brief, supervise & review the work produced by the FX team & create FX as needed
- Create & maintain a department guide as required
- Serve as Effects point person in production-specific meetings and reviews, ensure deadlines are kept and quotas are fulfilled, and communicate the progress of the department.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in a similar position
- Must have an understanding/working knowledge of different approaches to creating effects elements within a scene and the ability to devise methods for the creation and animation of each effect as needed
- Experience in compositing and knowledge of After Effects is preferable but not essential
- Experience in Hand Drawn and 2d Rigged animation required
- Working knowledge of Moho or another 2d rigged animation software is essential
- A strong sense of design and an ability to tailor designs to Puffin Rock style is essential
- Strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve unexpected FX and workflow problems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoys working in a team environment.
