Job Opening: FX Artist
Location: Montreal, Canada
Type: Contracted to Full Time
Responsibilities:
- Before production, read the project description;
- Read the references given by the Supervisor to prepare for the work;
- Search for the best way to produce a special effect;
- Discuss and decide with the immediate Supervisor on the final result needed and the timeframe to respect;
- Evaluate and inform the Supervisor of the difficulties and the technic needs for the production of the special effects;
- Develop the visual aspect of the effects that will serve on the project or any other studio project;
- Execute all the effects and simulations asked (particles, fur, smoke, clothing, liquid, etc.);
- Organize, manage, and maintaining the simulation files that has been created;
- Work to optimized the techniques daily;
- Inform the Supervisor and the production about the work advancement;
- Publish correctly the approved elements;
- Execute the corrections requested by the Supervisor and the Director;
- Organize work and prepare presentation elements for approval;
- Perform the image rendering et follow their calculation;
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by management;
Qualifications & Skills:
- Have an animation and/or special effects experience;
- Excellent knowledge of Houdini;
- Basic knowledge of Nuke;
- Experience in fire and destruction simulation is a plus;
- Knowledge in creating, managing, recording, and maintaining HDAs/OTLs is a plus;
- Mastering Python and VEX is a plus;
- Knowledge of Guerilla is a plus;
- Knowledge of Maya is a plus;
- Knowledge and understanding of a production structure;
- Be comfortable with a LINUX / UNIX environment;
- Knowledge of the asset manager SHOTGUN is a plus;
- Be able to work in a team;
- Experience in managing a team is a plus;
