Job Opening: Texture Artist
Location: Montreal, QC, Canada
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the art team to understand the artistic vision of the game and set texture priorities.
- Become familiar with concept art and research your own references to develop the visual design language.
- Work closely with level artists to understand environmental needs.
- Create textures from scratch or using references or scans + create and organize your texture bank.
- Work with modelers to suggest textures and participate in 3D mapping.
- Finding the balance between artistic aspects and technical constraints
- Fine-tune textures and apply them to 3D models.
- Document and share your knowledge and best practices.
- Modify your work based on feedback from interdependent teams (debug and optimize).
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in texturing, modeling, lighting, or other relevant experience
- Knowledge of 2D art tools (e.g. Photoshop) and familiarity with Maya 3D software + game engines (e.g. Unity or Unreal)
- Experience creating and managing shaders in VRay
- Good understanding of art fundamentals (lighting, composition, proportion, color theory, etc.), physical-based renderings, and game constraints
- A creative, collaborative, and innovative spirit
- Excellent observation, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Motivation to seek the opinion of colleagues and ability to adapt to it
- Aesthetic sensitivity and great attention to the most subtle details
