Job Opening: 3D Lighting Artist

Location: Remote/Freelance

Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the art director and animation director to understand the creative vision of scenes and ensure that the lighting supports that vision.
  • Communicate efficiently to the lighting supervisor and production team to work based on the established quota and priorities of the production.
  • Create lighting systems that suit the specific needs of each scene, including light intensity, color, and direction.
  • Use 3D lighting software such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, V-Ray, Houdini, or similar software to create realistic lighting and visual effects.
  • Ensure that shadows, reflections, and lighting effects are consistent with the scale and atmosphere of the scene.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as 3D modeling and visual effects, to ensure the proper integration of lighting into scenes.
  • Optimize lighting to meet the technical and performance requirements of the project.
  • Conduct testing and adjustments to achieve the best possible visual quality in scenes.
  • Stay up-to-date with trends and advancements in 3D lighting technology and related software.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous industry experience as a 3D lighting artist in animation.
  • Solid knowledge of 3D lighting software, such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, V-Ray, Houdini, or other similar programs.
  • Strong artistic skills, including a good eye for color, composition, and atmosphere.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with other members of the production team.
  • Knowledge of lighting and shading techniques used in animation.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick adjustments as needed.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
