Job Opening: Character Artist – Rust
Location: Birmingham, England, UK
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Creation of all character-related assets (humans, clothing, animals, hair)
- Maintain and push the visual aesthetic of Rust in your assets
- Work closely with concept, animation and technical artists throughout the production process
- Complete tasks independently, with minimal oversight
- Review and playtest your work in-engine, independently resolving issues or errors
Qualifications & Skills:
- Eligible to work and located within the UK
- Demonstrates a strong ability to create photo-realistic character assets in a realtime game engine.
- Ability to work in different styles, should the need arise
- Excellent organic and hard surface modelling skills
- Expert-level skills in Maya, Zbrush, Marvellous Designer and Substance Painter
- Experience with a contemporary game engine
- Comfortable working from concept and without
- Experience with rigging and skin-weight painting
- The ability to work to requirements and budgets
- To be able to work within a team and work to feedback
- The ability to learn new systems and workflows
Desirables:
- Local to UK Birmingham or the surrounding area or have strong transport links to Birmingham to work hybrid at our HQ
- AAA game studio experience in character art
- Experience in animation, or good knowledge of animation systems
- Experience working with, and cleaning up 3D scan data
- Knowledge of other 3D applications (3ds Max, Blender)
- In-depth knowledge of Rust
- Experience with the Unity game engine
- Fan of Rust / survival games
