Job Opening: Environment Artist
Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- You’ll wear multiple hats; we have a dynamic, agile team and as a consequence, there are many facets of environment art you’ll touch.
- Work alongside accomplished and technical colleagues to produce genre-defining, visually stunning environments.
- You’ll prepare artwork to support Nightingale’s architecture, foliage, and natural landscapes.
- Preparing content to support level-building goals, and furnish the environments with entertaining gameplay opportunities and immersive storytelling
- Work with multiple disciplines across the team to achieve project goals
- You’ll work harmoniously with proprietary proc-gen systems to deliver exceptional experiences.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Competent/fluent in Substance Designer/Painter, Zbrush, and Maya 2020.
- Experienced and adept with PBR workflows for texture-authoring.
- Comfortable working with the Unreal Engine
- Able to UV-unwrap assets efficiently and without artifacts, hitting texel density targets.
- Experienced with High-res to Low-Poly baking workflows without errors. They should also have experience creating clean low poly meshes.
- Comfortable working in a realistic visual style.
- Sufficiently comfortable in Substance Designer to use custom nodes and outputs, and create textures in any visual style.
- Being able to create materials from scratch in Substance designer is a bonus.
- Aware of the importance of scale, LODs, and collision – specifically how they relate to creating assets for games.
- An excellent spoken and written communicator: working remotely relies on timely, precise, proactive, and detailed communication.
- Able to demonstrate your skills and your process, as well as your eye for details and aesthetics through a portfolio or showreel
