Job Opening: Director of Technical Art
Location: Remote
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Works with the Studio Art Director and Studio Tech Director to drive the artistic vision, tools and pipelines of game projects
- Ensure that the art direction projects is technically carried out and establishes an efficient production plan for execution
- Directs area of expertise from R&D to final ship
- Presents workflow, pipelines and tools ideas that both support and push the vision of the game to Project Directors and Studio Leadership
- Ensure visual quality while increasing asset productivity throughout the game
- Ensures solutions are technically compatible with projects, and enlists engineering support to execute and maintain coding standards
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment of tech art plans and project design requirements
- Contribute to long-term vision for technical art and graphics at the studio
- Owns and partners with project production and leads on schedules to ensure deliverables are on time
- Develop, regularly communicate, and document technical art standards, technical constraints, best practices, and techniques
- Mentor, guide, and lead tech & VFX artists, providing examples and arranging training as necessary
- Actively partner with studio leadership in recruiting and career development efforts
Qualifications & Skills:
- 5+ years in the games industry
- Experience in leading teams or core groups of technical artists
- Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following artistic disciplines: Environment Art, Visual Effects, Surface Art
- Knowledge of both current and future facing principles and software
- Experience in programming and / or relevant scripting
- Understanding of cutting-edge process, tools, and industry techniques
- Experience in the technical and behind the scene operation in 3D graphics engines and their process
