Job Opening: Rough Layout Lead / Previs Lead

Location: Remote (Must work European business hours) / Hybrid (Budapest)

Type: Long-term / Freelance (Sole Proprietors/Self-employed)

DIGIC Pictures is looking for an experienced Rough Layout Lead / Previs Lead to join our award-winning team! Known for our high-end cinematics, we need a leader who can translate directorial vision into clear, cinematic previs. This role offers the opportunity to work on visually ambitious projects in an artist-driven environment, either from our Budapest studio or remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the previs and rough layout team across one or multiple high-profile projects.
  • Define shot language, camera work, staging, and pacing in collaboration with directors and editorial.
  • Oversee task planning, prioritization, and delivery in coordination with the production team.
  • Review team work and provide clear, constructive feedback to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Identify potential storytelling or technical issues early and propose actionable solutions.
  • Support and mentor artists to help them grow both creatively and technically.

Essential Skills

  • Several years of professional experience in previs or layout for film, episodic, or AAA cinematics.
  • Proven experience in a lead or senior role, guiding artists and collaborating with directors.
  • Strong understanding of cinematic storytelling, composition, and editing principles.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Maya or Blender.
  • Strong communication skills in English and a proactive, organized approach to deadlines.

Desirable Skills: Knowledge of editorial timing and shot continuity is a plus. Experience collaborating directly with clients and an interest in pipeline optimization are highly valued.
