Job Opening: Compositor
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Type: Contract
Responsibilities:
- Composite shots efficiently within the time allotted
- Report regularly to the Senior Compositor and VFX Supervisor
- Identify to the Senior Compositor problems that could potentially arise with respect to timelines and delivery schedules
- Watch for render errors/missing composite elements, based on the shot notes
- Work in collaboration with animators and modelers with respect to any missing elements in the shots or sequences and trouble shoot solutions
- Watch animatics of your episode for errors and shots missing composites; stay current with the show and what stage of production it is at
- Balance your creative needs, technical resources and time available
- Follow the creative direction of the production as communicated by the VFX Supervisor
- Anticipate, communicate, and troubleshoot any creative or technical issues with assistance from key stakeholders
- Keep current on compositing techniques and technology
Qualifications & Skills:
- 1-2 years of experience in animation or film industry
- Proficiency with standard industry software (eg. Maya, Nuke, Renderman)
- Experience with Real Flow, Houdini, and python scripting is an asset
- Good understanding of animation, modelling, compositing, rendering and lighting
- Excellent understanding of compositing methods
- Able to take direction, collaborate, and be a team player
- Ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas in a professional and positive manner
- Able to prioritize and manage time efficiently
- Must be open to direction and able to embrace change
