Job Opening: Cinematic Animator
Location: Montreal, Canada
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with leads, directors, production team, and other disciplines to develop high-end cinematic animation
- Deliver high-quality hand animations and edit MoCap data to stylize character animations to match the art style of the game
- Work with a FACS-based facial rig and proprietary facial animation tools
- Participate in reviews with the cinematics team, give and receive constructive feedback
- Communicate regularly with people from other disciplines, be it modeling, art, design, or even engineering
- Estimate the time needed to complete your own tasks and meet deadlines
- Sharing knowledge and offering solutions to the daily challenges of film animation
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3 years of experience as an animator
- Bachelor’s degree and/or certification in animation or related field preferred
- Experience working within interdisciplinary strike teams on collaborative assignments
- Experience with MoCap cleanup and keyframe animation
- Experience with hand-key facial animation and related tools
- Experience with Unreal Engine or equivalent game engines is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and good team spirit
- A strong understanding of form, gesture and silhouette regarding movement. A strong understanding of anatomy and caricature
- Excellent skill in animating bipedal human figures, organic shapes and mechanical objects
- A solid understanding of traditional animation principles, and how they can be used to augment motion capture data and sell a character’s performance
- A love for researching, referencing and documenting your findings to share with the team.
