Job Opening: Character Modeler
Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Create three-dimensional CG characters/ creatures to be painted, enveloped and animated by the creature development team, animation team and TDs
- Employ specific software tools to build the geometric structure of the object and ensures that the character/ creature model will satisfy the requirements of the production
- Build the geometry of computer graphic models with an understanding of how the geometry will stretch, bulge, and wrinkle during the performance of actions
- Present models for progress review to leads, supervisors, clients etc and follow through with notes and feedback if required
- Communicate with other departments and production in order to ensure that the model meets relevant requirements
- Have ongoing communication with Production, Supervisors and Leads regarding the schedules and deadlines
- Stay on schedule meeting set deadlines while maintaining the highest level of quality
- Continue to become familiar with new tools, software, data, and other related technology
- Work efficiently as part of a team, or independently to complete assigned shots
Qualifications & Skills:
- Relevant working experience of 3 years and above in high-end VFX projects in a global studio
- A good working knowledge of Maya
- Creative, resourceful and with strong spatial awareness
- Able to interpret and follow reference material to create clean, highly detailed and accurate models
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to organise own workflow in a meticulous manner
- Able to work well within a team
- Is able to script in Python
- Has cross department skills e.g. Texture, lighting etc.
